Position Overview

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the statewide travel demand model to serve internal and external customers for program and project development. The incumbent works on integrating the use of the statewide travel demand model into regular project planning and development.

Essential Functions

  • Leads work in developing and maintaining the statewide travel demand model.
  • Reviews work completed by consultants for traffic forecasts for regular project planning and development reports.
  • Leads work in developing and maintaining a manual for the travel demand model with documentation detailing its creation and evolvement.
  • Stays current with relevant training on the latest technology for travel demand management.
  • Assists in the coordination of software hardware and data sources to maintain and enhance the statewide travel demand model.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelors degree majoring in urban planning geography economics physics mathematics statistics geographic information systems (GIS) or a related field PLUS two years of experience in travel demand modeling technical analysis transportation planning traffic modeling andforecasting mapping data collection or a combination thereof; OR eight years of experience in travel demand modeling technical analysistransportation planning traffic modeling and forecasting mapping data collection or a combination thereof.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in various travel demand modeling software such as TransCad Cube and TransModeler.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires occasional statewide and out-of-state travel with overnight stays.
  • Requires a valid drivers license.
  • Requires successful completion of a background screening.
