Title: Assembly Manager
Position Overview:
A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking an Assembly Manager to oversee daily operations and personnel within a high-volume production department. This individual will lead a team focused on operational excellence quality performance and continuous improvement across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Reporting directly to the General Manager the Assembly Manager will coach and develop production teams drive standardization and process improvements and ensure safety quality and delivery targets are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead coach and mentor production supervisors and team members to foster ownership accountability and engagement.
- Promote a culture of respect safety and continuous improvement.
- Support professional growth and skill development throughout the department.
2. Production Operations Management
- Oversee daily assembly operations to meet production goals for throughput quality and efficiency.
- Evaluate performance metrics and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with maintenance quality and engineering teams to resolve issues quickly.
3. Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Drive initiatives to improve first-pass yield and eliminate scrap through root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and standard work practices to reduce waste and increase consistency.
- Champion problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies throughout the plant.
4. Process & Materials Oversight
- Maintain oversight of material usage inventory and storage within the assembly area.
- Ensure all quality standards safety procedures and work instructions are followed and regularly reviewed.
- Support process optimization projects that enhance product flow and reduce cycle times.
5. Collaboration & Communication
- Build strong working relationships across operations logistics quality and engineering departments.
- Act as a key liaison between production and leadership teams to align goals and priorities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Business Administration or related field preferred.
Experience:
- Proven experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment (automotive background preferred).
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
- Demonstrated success in developing high-performing teams and fostering a positive work environment.
Technical & Leadership Skills:
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess performance data and implement improvements.
- Hands-on approach to management with a focus on accountability safety and quality.
Work Environment:
- On-site leadership role in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing facility.
- Frequent interaction with production engineering maintenance and quality departments.
