Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Project Manufacturing Engineer to bridge the gap between product design and manufacturing operations. This role is critical in identifying potential manufacturing issues early in the development process and ensuring seamless product launches. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and influencing skills enabling them to lead cross-functional initiatives without formal authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products from concept through production.
- Identify and address potential manufacturing issues during the design phase to prevent delays and quality concerns.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to drive improvements in product introduction process efficiency and manufacturability.
- Serve as a liaison between design manufacturing and quality teams to align on technical requirements and production capabilities.
- Utilize design software such as CRIO and SolidWorks to review and suggest improvements to product designs.
- Support the development and maintenance of quality documentation including PFMEA Control Plans Process Flows and Work Instructions.
- Influence and guide team members across departments to adopt best practices and implement process improvements.
- Participate in design reviews pilot builds and process validations to ensure readiness for full-scale production.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- 37 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or project engineering with a strong focus on New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams through pilot and production ramp-up phases.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects or initiatives.
- Proficiency in CAD software(e.g. SolidWorks AutoCAD) for fixture/tooling design.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and root cause analysismethodologies.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems process validation and quality management systems(ISO 9001 AS9100 or equivalent).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Exposure to quality systems and documentation such as PFMEA Control Plans Process Flows and Work Instructions.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles continuous improvement methodologies and design for manufacturing (DFM).
