The Department of Economic Security Division of Aging and Adult Services seeks an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Deputy Business Administrator with the Finance and Business Operation Administration. DAAS supports at-risk Arizonans to meet their basic needs and to live safely with dignity and independence. Services and programs reach a diverse population of Arizonans.

The Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) Deputy Business Administrator works under the Divisions Business Administrator to provide high-level leadership and direction to execute financial operational and strategic initiatives for the Division. This position is responsible for directing the operations logistics and strategic initiatives of multiple teams. These teams areas of focus are budget and fund accounting operations forecasting and planning and facilities management.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

All work including remote work should be performed within Arizona unless an exception is properly authorized in advance.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assist with oversight & management of Divisions accounting finance data analytics information and reporting; A/P; purchasing & facilities.
Work closely with Fiscal/Finance Manager to analyze performance of procurement activities against various procurement indicators.
Plan organize and assign work establish priorities & assure realistic completion schedules are developed documented & communicated to all stakeholders.
Coach and mentor staff towards a continuous improvement culture that fosters daily improvement involving all team members.
Assist with recognizing managing and mitigating risk; monitor any open legal issues involving the Division that affect the delivery of services construct and monitor reliable control systems.

Develop effective operating procedures

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

Requires a Bachelors degree in accounting finance economics business public administration or related field and 3 years of experience managing budget/finances of a complex organization; OR
1 year as a Financial Analyst 3 in Arizona State Govt. Supervisory experience is required. Two years of additional work experience noted above substitutes for the bachelors degree.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

In-state travel may be required. Drivers License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agencys ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
