In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required with a minimum of two years experience in post-secondary admissions or related Student Services position strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with administrators faculty parents students and high school counselors required. Schedule may include working evening and weekend hours based on job needs. Spanish-speaking is preferred.
Nature and Scope of Duties: The Admissions/Financial Aid Counselor will report to the Director of Admissions Director of Financial Aid or their designee:
1. Responsible for making admissions and financial aid presentations to potential students and their families.
2. Host financial aid workshops for potential students and their families.
3. Attend admission related events to provide financial aid assistance/guidance.
4. Meet with prospective students and their families who visit the Admissions Office or Financial Aid Office.
5. Administer appropriate admission decisions based on applicants file.
6. Responsible for communication related to incomplete applications in Financial Aid (FAFSA/TAP) and Admissions (Application for Admissions).
7. Proactively communicate with admitted and packaged students to confirm that the students will be matriculating.
8. Review and evaluate applicant materials including financial aid while entering data into SIS system.
9. Manage communication flow with students who have been offered financial aid awards throughout the academic year.
10. Meet with and speak by phone or videoconferencing to potential and current applicants explaining the admissions and financial aid processes.
11. Provide advice to constituents on what documentation may need to be consulted and/or provided to complete admissions application and application for aid and scholarship.
12. Cross-trained to assist both offices Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid.
13. Other duties assigned.
This position is contingent upon continued Grant Funding through the SUNY Reconnect Program.
This is a 12-month Full-Time position with a salary of $48000.
