Job Summary

Serves as liaison between the Office of Student Discipline and Support Services and district schools regarding the implementation of Behavior/Mental Health systems. Provides support services training and technical assistance. Provides input in specific strategies such as developing school-wide behavior/mental health plans and monitoring them for fidelity.

Essential Functions

behavioral and mental health Multi-Tiered System of Supports at identified schools.

with the data gathering development and implementation of the Coordination and Integration Plan (CIP) and uses this document to develop a work plan that addresses the needs at identified schools.

prevention and intervention mental health strategies and assists school based staff with embedding preventive mental health strategies across all tiers.

on the school based PBIS leadership team to assess the strengths needs and gaps that currently exist at the schools and enhance existing services and supports to ensure these interventions align with students and familys needs.

identified schools in developing a plan to build mental health resources throughout the tiers using relevant school based data.

as members of the District Implementation Team to problem solve any barriers to accessing mental health services with community and school partners.

on-site coaching targeted technical assistance and ongoing professional development. Establishes partnerships/connections with community mental health providers and monitors to ensure fidelity of implementation.

other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; Masters degree in a Human Services field (Mental Health Counseling Social Work Psychology or related field). Educational level can substitute for years of experience.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience working with children and youth in a human services position; Three (3) years of experience providing crisis intervention counseling or substance abuse prevention/treatment for school aged children; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the noted knowledge skills and abilities

Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education certification; Licensed /Registered Intern clinician through the Board of Clinical Social Work Marriage and Family Therapy Mental Health Counseling Clinical Social Work.

  • Knowledge of federal state and district legislation policies and standards

  • Strong creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to conduct trainings on a variety of topics
  • Ability to support schools in exceptional education eligibility determinations
  • Ability to improve and develop curriculum materials
  • Ability to implement models of instructional and behavioral interventions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to prepare reports
  • Ability to interpret data
