Our team
Our Global Sustainability Department reports directly to the CEO and oversees the Sustainability Direction of ING Group globally including strategies to improve Sustainability for our customers our community and our colleagues. Our team of sustainability consultants integrate sustainability within our banking operations worldwide across both Retail and Wholesale Banking markets and covers advice and programme management across the full range of ESG objectives. ING has been recognised as one of the most sustainable banks in the world for our contributions to progressing action on key global challenges such as climate change and the impacts of technology on society.

The Global Sustainability department consists of three teams: Expertise Integration & Implementation and Stakeholder Engagement. This vacancy is for the Expertise team a team of 16 passionate experts on Climate Nature and Human Rights. Each theme is led by a senior expert supported by consultants who help shape and advance INGs sustainability strategy.
Your role
As a Sustainability Consultant in the Expertise team you will contribute to INGs sustainability strategy by providing thematic and sector-specific expertise. Youll work flexibly across projects supporting our leads in delivering impact across key areas such as transportation energy and industry.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert input on one or more sustainability themes (Climate Nature Human Rights) and relevant sectors.
Support the implementation of methodologies and approaches to quantify/measure/determineimpact (target setting measure progress etc.);
Identify dependencies and barriers to delivery and propose solutions to internal the shaping and influencing of(upcoming) standards andregulation (e.g. deliver input for consultations and/or share views on impacts thereof internally);
Contribute to internal and external working groups where ING works together with other organisations to create coalitions for action;
Operate within a flexible pool of consultants meaning your specific projects and topics are determined by the demand of the theme leads and in agreement with the cluster leads.

Your profile
3-5 years of relevant working experience (preferably within financial institutions or relevant consultancy);
You bring relevant expertise on one or multiple of the relevant sustainability themes (Climate Nature Human Rights) via education and work experience. Previous experience or specialized knowledge in one or more of our Terra sectors will be a differentiator;
You have developed methodologies to quantify sustainability impact (e.g. through target setting on GHG emission reduction).;
You bring experience with reporting on sustainability impact and progress and have a good understanding of the different sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. GHG Protocol CSRD);
Project management skills ability to deliver within strict deadlines and report on progress;
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and deliver high-quality results;
You know how to build and use an in(ex)ternal network to collaborate on execution of project and attend relevant external events to build and expand external network;
Develop and expand knowledge on how topics are relevant for FIs and more specific INGs sectors/regions.
