Job Summary:


The Arizona Attorney Generals Office Civil Litigation Division/Consumer Protection and Advocacy Section is seeking two (2) Civil Investigators one in Phoenix and one in Tucson. This position will assist Assistant Attorneys General with conducting civil investigations relating to potential violations of the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act financial exploitation of vulnerable adults and environmental violations. The employee will perform tasks and investigations for the successful civil enforcement of Arizona laws through the production of investigative reports evidence collection suspect/witness interviews and court testimony.


This position may offer the ability to work remotely up to two days a week based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Obtain secure and analyze evidence from facilities and sites witnesses financial institutions government agencies website and surveillance operations in preparation for administrative hearings and civil enforcement actions. Conduct interviews of witnesses and suspects in Arizona Consumer Fraud Act and environmental investigations. Prepare detailed reports of findings and evidence.

Confer with supervisor assistant attorneys general and special agents to discuss findings and recommendations. Attend meetings with case attorneys to plan case strategy.

Communicate directly with consumer complainants and the businesses that are the subjects of their complaints to assist in finding mutual resolution.

Attend telephonic and virtual meetings of multistate investigation teams and working groups and documenting those meetings.

Assist in the development of court filings and related documents.

Perform administrative tasks such as attend staff meetings; complete timecards and status reports; scan and copy documents; and assist with training.

Testify in court administrative hearings and depositions.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

A general understanding of Arizona statutory authority; the Arizona criminal and civil system; rules of evidence; and strategies and techniques for conducting investigations.

Knowledge of Arizona Consumer Protection laws.

Knowledge of administrative civil and criminal litigation.

Knowledge of techniques for conducting interviews and preparing reports.

Knowledge of asset tracing techniques.

Knowledge of computer programs terminology and programming related to consumer protection actions.

Knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
Skills in communicating effectively with people of various backgrounds. Interview skills. Skills working with other team members including special agents attorneys experts and administrative staff.

Skills interpreting and applying complex state and federal laws; analyzing and accurately interpreting large amounts of information; using a computer and software to prepare reports and perform complex data analysis; and using investigative resources to discover information.

Skills in investigating reading understanding and interpreting financial information and data.

Mediation skills or experience.

Computer skills using Excel Word PowerPoint Snag-It and other software programs.
Ability to coordinate activities with a variety of law enforcement agencies and other government agencies. Ability to maintain confidential information.

Ability to examine collect preserve and evaluate evidence and data in the investigation of consumer protection violations. Ability to accurately assemble and organize documents for large complex cases. Ability to maintain chain-of-custody and evidence control procedures.

Ability to conduct interviews.

Ability to effectively communicate results of investigations both verbally and in writing.

Ability to effectively manage a challenging workload by applying sound organizational and time management principals.

Travel is required for this position. A valid Arizona Drivers License is required along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
