Job Summary
Oversees and coordinates a team of 3-8 communications generalists and specialists to capture and amplify DCPSs story via content creation social media media relations family engagement and community partnerships. Ensures integrated strategies that maximize coverage of district initiatives build stakeholder trust and safeguard the public image reporting to the Director Strategic Communications.
Essential Functions
1. Provides leadership and supervision to Social Media Manager Family Engagement Specialist Community Relations Coordinator and Content Creation Coordinator including task delegation ad-hoc support performance evaluation and professional development.
cross-team efforts to ensure seamless integration of communications activities eliminating silos and maximizing coverage of DCPS stories events and achievements.
long-range communications goals and plans integrated campaigns using social media content and outreach to engage communities and strengthen the districts voice.
production of multimedia content including videos articles and photos to highlight impactful student and school successes and share DCPSs narrative.
social media strategies to grow engagement foster community loyalty and position DCPS as an educational leader through authentic data-driven interactions.
6. Coordinates with media relations manager to expand network of media outlets and positive news coverage.
family engagement efforts through multi-channel communications to build trust share resources and strengthen school-home connections with parents and families.
with community relations coordinator to forging partnerships with Jacksonville businesses nonprofits civic groups and influencers to support DCPS goals and foster mutual benefits.
performance metrics across teams (e.g. engagement rates media impressions) prepares reports for leadership and recommends improvements for communication effectiveness.
other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Communications Public Relations Journalism or a related field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience: Five (5) progressively responsible years experience in communications public relations or a related field two (2) years of which must have been in a management capacity.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current communications trends social media analytics and digital storytelling best practices.
- Experience and knowledge of community engagement strategies and developing partnerships.
- Strong leadership and team supervision skills including mentorship and performance management.
- Strong strategic planning and project coordination skills for integrated campaigns.
- Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills for measuring communication impact and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong creative problem-solving skills for storytelling and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong word processing spreadsheet presentation software and digital tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite Hootsuite) skills.
- Knowledge of crisis communications principles and reputation management strategies.
- Ability to foster collaboration across teams and external partners.
- Ability to identify key issues in communications and develop proactive solutions.
- Ability to work as part of a team with district staff and adapt to fast-paced environments
