EIPS is recruiting a part-time (0.574 FTE) School Counsellor at Pine Street Elementary.

Pine Street Elementary serves approximately 370 students in kindergarten to Grade 6 with 20 teaching staff and 26 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park AB.

Pine Street Elementary strives to provide a safe and caring school community built upon meaningful relationships. The school is committed to providing quality learning opportunities where students achieve academic excellence as self-directed lifelong learners and develop into responsible global citizens. Pine Street Elementary is also a designated Play And Learn at School (PALS) pre-kindergarten site within the Division.

A masters degree in counselling and registered or provisional psychologist status is preferred. Consideration will be given to applicants presently working on a masters in this area. A minimum of five years of teaching experience education in psychology or a related discipline with a focus on counselling and Violent Threat Risk Assessment Training (VTRA) would be considered an asset.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education degree
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Effective organization and classroom management skills
Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe supported and challenged
Excellent verbal and written skills
Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
