The Charge Nurse is responsible to provide direct nursing care to the guests and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal state and local standards guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as may be required by the Director of Nursing to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
- Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
- Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by this facility.
- Cooperate with other guest services when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the guests total regimen of care is maintained.
- Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as may be requested. Interpret the departments policies and procedures to personnel guests visitors and government agencies as required.
- Admit transfer and discharge guests as required.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms reports evaluations studies charting etc. as necessary.
- Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon the guests admission transfer and/or discharge.
- Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans record and sign their orders progress notes accordance with established policies.
- Receive telephone orders from physicians and record on the Physicians Order Form.
- Enter physicians orders to the electronic medical record cardex medication cards treatment/care plans as required.
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician following all rules and guidelines.
- Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift.
- Make daily rounds of your unit/shift to ensure that nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
Qualifications
Prior to date of hire must hold current valid RN and LPN licenses or temporary licenses through the State Board of Nursing or hold compact licenses. Must maintain valid licensure to practice as a Nurse.
CPR required.
A minimum of one (1) year recent verifiable experience as a licensed RN and LPN.
One year of previous supervisory experience required.
Recent licensed experience in LTC/SNF/Rehab strongly preferred.
Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
