API Software Developer

We are seeking a Senior API Software Developer with 8 years of experience to design develop and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and microservices. The successful candidate will translate functional specifications into reliable applications perform detailed design and coding conduct unit testing and ensure the delivery of high-quality secure and performant software solutions.

• Develop detailed design and specification documents for RESTful APIs (endpoints models authentication error handling).

• Build clean secure and scalable REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot adhering to best practices and standards.

• Design and deploy modular microservices with clear inter-service communication protocols.

• Develop applications using APIs to transform and route data based on business requirements.

• Ensure comprehensive test coverage using JUnit Mockito or Test Containers.

• Design and implement efficient database schemas supporting API operations.

• Optimize APIs for performance scalability and resource utilization.

• Implement security measures such as OAuth2 JWT and input validation against OWASP vulnerabilities.

• Create Dockerized applications with configuration files docker-compose scripts and (if applicable) Kubernetes manifests.

• Integrate monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Prometheus Grafana ELK Logstash Splunk).

• Produce clear technical documentation for design deployment and operations.

• Participate in code reviews provide mentorship and ensure adherence to coding standards.

• Provide weekly or sprint-based progress updates and resolve production issues as required.

• Be available on-call for critical production issues including weekends if necessary.

• Proven experience designing building and consuming REST APIs with documentation and testing.

• Deep understanding of integration patterns and Spring Integration.

• Strong knowledge of microservice architecture and building scalable systems on Azure Services.

• Hands-on experience with messaging queues and event-driven architecture.

• Proficiency in asynchronous communication and multi-threading.

• Strong SQL skills with relational databases (SQL Server Oracle etc.).

• Experience integrating with OAuth2 JWT SAML etc.

• Knowledge of data transformation techniques (mapping normalization) in Spring Integration.

• Ability to handle data transformations between JSON XML CSV formats.

• Experience in Criminal Justice business systems or government sector projects.

• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot with modern OOP and functional programming techniques.

• Deep understanding of REST principles HTTP methods and design best practices.

• Experience with enterprise integration technologies (JMS AMQP REST).

• Knowledge of XML technologies (XSLT XPath).

• Experience with Azure Service Bus and Event Hubs.

• Understanding of security best practices including authentication authorization and encryption.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD.

• Familiarity with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes Helm).

• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum Kanban).

• Strong communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to mentor junior developers and contribute to architectural decisions.

• Strong problem-solving debugging and analytical skills.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality scalable software in deadline-driven environments.
