SeaLandAire Technologies is a defense contractor in Jackson Michigan. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer / Engineering Technologist to join our growing team!
We design build and test prototypes and products used for data collection applications in difficult environments. These products help our customers collect information crucial to our countrys security.
The position involves supporting the production and testing of our products at the component sub-assembly and system levels. This includes printed circuit boards for high-performance sensing data processing RF communications and specialized battery assemblies. The role includes design modifications and alternate component selection to overcome part shortages and other supply chain issues. It also includes custom test systems to support design verification and factory acceptance testing.
Our team includes electrical mechanical and acoustic engineers as well as support staff. The team works together to create innovative concepts and reliable implementations that focus on customer requirements. As the products mature our customers rely on us for production. Production is a fairly new venture for SLA and we need help making it a success. An electrical engineer / engineering technologist can contribute important skills in this area. Communication skills are also important because the role involves interfacing with our customer primarily the U.S. Navy.
Essential Functions*
Production tracking to ensure printed circuit board assemblies are meeting quality and quantity requirements
Design production testing solutions to improve quality and throughput
Write code to automate test procedures. Examples include Python C and C. LabView is also used.
Work in project teams to solve technical problems with hardware/firmware production and testing solutions
Test and verify hardware/firmware through rigorous design verification testing and production level testing

This position does not have department or company supervisory responsibilities. However supervision within the production and testing environments may be expected and could include planning organizing assigning and overseeing the work of other engineers and technicians.

This is an on-site full-time position with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Hours are somewhat flexible and occasional extra hours may be required. This is a salaried exempt position however if you are required to work 45 or more hours in a week you will be compensated for all hours worked past 40 at your equivalent hourly rate.
Some travel is expected for field testing vendor selections and customer interface.
A bachelors degree in electrical engineering or in electrical engineering technology is required. Experience is desired but recent graduates will be considered.
Since a majority of SeaLandAires business is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense applicants must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident).
A background check will be conducted for employment purposes.
A U.S. government security clearance is not required but is very helpful. Employees may be required to obtain a security clearance and SeaLandAire will sponsor the process.
