General Responsibilities
This position performs a variety of skilled locksmith tasks and serves as locksmith crew leader and performs related work as required.
Education and Experience
Requires a high school diploma extensive experience in the locksmith trade at the Journeyman level; completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or; any equivalent combination of education and experienced that would provide the referenced knowledge skills and abilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversees and participates in the work of small-to-large groups of employees engaged in performing a variety of skilled locksmith duties on the interior and exterior of buildings to include lock and door repair and installation on cabinetry desks and other related components at the full journeyman level.
- Receives work orders sketches plan procures materials and oversees the completion of work.
- Repairs or replaces damaged doors locks and door hardware (to include panic bars and hinges and closures) replace lockable restroom stall hardware replace fire doors rollup doors and chain mechanism door jams and casing key cutting and distribution card swipe systems and electronic strike
- Operates and maintains hand and power tools including drills and planers table band panel and radial arm saws routers orbital and belt sanders metal cutters and key cutting machines.
- Assists the shop supervisor with assigned tasks.
- Orders and procures materials from vendors and supply
- Ensures proper maintenance of tools and other door and lock related materials
- Responsible forinstalling and maintaining locks and related records adapting locks and keys to master key system rekeying key duplication and cutting.
- Researches key codes and codes keys properly maintains control key systems.
- Compiles technical information for specifications and inspects work done by contractors.
- At times may assist with carpentry repairs and masonry work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
