POSITION SUMMARY:Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Security and Director of Corrections conducting investigations of inmates staff visitors and contractors. Works with law enforcement and the States Attorneys Office on investigations that may rise to a criminal matter. Maintains confidential investigation files for each investigation. Also serves as the Departments Emergency Management Coordinator developing emergency plans and exercises in. Serves as liaison to the Office of Emergency Management. This position reports directly to the Chief of Security but takes direction from the Deputy Director and Director.
CLASS DESCRIPTION:Performs intermediate supervisory and advanced level corrections operations work under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work includes participating in and supervising staff engaged in assessing and evaluating the personal and criminal history of adult inmates in order to recommend a security level developing and monitoring appropriate work and education programs and placing and monitoring inmates within a work release program. Assigns and reviews work develops programs and assists in the administration of a variety of program and treatment activities.

-Conducts investigations of inmates staff visitors and contractors.
- Monitors inmate communications to include phone conversations and mail to capture intelligence
- Maintains Security Threat group intelligence and share that information with authorized law enforcement personnel
- Reviews all Serious Incident Reports prior to review by the Security Chief and indicates where there may be policy violations by staff
- Manages the Emergency Operations Center.
- Reviews and updates all the Departments emergency plans
- Compiles all investigative reports needed for law enforcement involvement and possible prosecution.
-Works with the Administrative Captain on the operations access and storage of all video monitoring equipment and inmate telephone recordings.
- Analyzes drug testing reports to assist in the identification of trends or patterns of druguse by offenders.
-Performs other duties as assigned by the Security Chief Deputy Director and Director
The position may supervise other staff during investigations.
For the need of the facility this position will be required to assist with shift commander coverage if needed.
Associates Degree and three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seven (7) years of correctional experience.
Investigative experience in corrections or law enforcement

- Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
