Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Nature of Work

Thefundamental reason this classification exists is to order record store andissue automotive heavy equipment and/or other related parts to include tiresand supplies for fleet maintenance and work responsibilities of the classification are: maintains a largeand varied stock of automotive and vehicle parts; orders parts by reviewingauto/vehicle parts manuals contacting vendors etc.; processes vendor invoices; processeswork orders from mechanics; monitors and maintains parts inventory; andperforms department related supervision is received from the Fleet Maintenance PartsSupervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Highschool diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years of experience in automotive/vehicleparts to include tires and counter work to include computerized inventory andpurchasing.

NOTE: Qualifying education training and experiencethat provide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the jobwill be considered.

Special Requirements

May be required to work days or nights and someholidays. Must be able to work flexiblework schedules as needed to maintain adequate manpower. Must have or obtain a valid and currentAlabama drivers license in order to drive city vehicles. Must obtain forkliftcertification after probationary period.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Physicallyable to lift and move objects up to 75 lbs. able to stand stoopbend lift pull and climb as needed to locate part numbers on vehicles able to operate vehiclesand material handling equipment as needed to pick up move load and unloadparts equipment and supplies.

Kind of Examination

Applications are being accepted to fill two (2) vacancies and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancyis with theCity of Montgomery Fleet Management Department.Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. For this reason applicants are urged to fill in the application form and supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held the dates they held them where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five (5) or less qualified applicants they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
