Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Nuclear Medicine Student performs diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures under the direct supervision of a certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist. This role is designed to provide hands-on clinical training in a hospital setting where students gain experience in patient care radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration image acquisition and processing. The student is expected to apply classroom knowledge to clinical practice while adhering to departmental policies safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions
Assist technologists in preparing patients for nuclear medicine procedures including verifying identity explaining the exam and obtaining pertinent history.
Learn and apply proper radiation safety and infection control practices.
Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals under direct supervision in compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.
Operate gamma cameras PET/CT SPECT/CT and cardiac CT related imaging equipment under guidance.
Assist in image acquisition processing and quality control procedures.
Observe and participate in patient monitoring before during and after radiopharmaceutical administration.
Maintain accurate records of procedures doses and quality control tests as directed.
Develop professional communication skills by interacting with patients families and healthcare team members.

Job Requirements

High School Graduate or GED

Currently enrolled in an accredited nuclear medicine program.

Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
