Job Summary

The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus is looking for a Senior Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with complex physical dysfunctions disorders and/or injuries. This position will be assigned to the outpatient orthopedics setting.

  • Provide quality patient care evaluation assessment and treatment appropriate for patients needs. Assignment will primarily be to adult inpatient acute care setting
  • Evaluate and instruct patients in home treatment programs
  • Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks in an efficient manner
  • Participate in divisional quality/process improvement activities and recommend opportunities for improvement in service quality
  • Attend and participate in educational programs and provide educational experiences as assigned
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public
  • Performs special projects and tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelors degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required

  • 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist in an acute care hospital setting is required with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility
  • Demonstrated clinical education abilities and leadership is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience as a Physical Therapist with advanced understanding and skill in providing occupational therapy primarily to adults in an inpatient acute care setting.
  • Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in evaluation and treatment of patients in outpatient orthopedics.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities
  • Demonstrates experience as part of a multidisciplinary medical team
  • Job related experience with and/or commitment to service excellence
