Our organisation
Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) provides a Joint headquarters to plan prepare and conduct operations to support NATOs core tasks at the Joint Operational level as directed by SACEUR.
The Management Directorate enables the full range of HQ functions through the coordination of services and activities.
The Protocol Branch is responsible for planning organizing and executing all international protocol related matters at Command Group (CG) Level.
The incumbent advises and assists the Branch Head (Protocol) in the execution of all Command Group level protocol related matters.
The main duties of Staff Officer (Protocol) are:
Advise the HQ Staff on best working practises in the management of visits and conferences.
Assist the Branch Head (Protocol) in seeking approval for and scheduling all JFCBS visits and events.
Take responsibility for planning of all major events and visits with Command Group involvement.
Develop detailed programs for distinguished visitors conferences ceremonies calls and briefings.
Coordinate briefings conferences ceremonies receptions formal luncheons and dinners hosted by senior staff.
Oversee and co-ordinate arrangements for billeting transportation escorts and logistical support for distinguished guests and parties.
Interact with civilian and military participants and support personnel in the co-ordination setting up and performance of events.
Liaise with local authorities and local services for the related matters.
Coordinate with the Branch Head (Protocol) to build training plans for incoming officers and staff about Protocol methodology.
Develop and maintain training solution by assessing the needs of incoming personnel.
Establish and maintain continued essential partnerships while developing social events with local authorities outer offices key business partners and local military counterparts.
Liaise between J8 and the CG fund managers to execute NATO funded command events.
Provide standing and continued point of contact with other Protocol key civilian stakeholders for ACO HQ and NATO HQ interaction.
Undertake work as part of a project team or working group as directed or assigned.
The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises and/or TDY assignments both within and without NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian Staff acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days if required.
Required Qualifications are:
Ø English good NATO Standard Language Proficiency 3333
(Listening Speaking Reading and Writing) in accordance with NATO standard agreement (STANAG) 6001.
NOTE: The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English.
Ø University Degree or equivalent in related field / discipline
Ø Minimum 3 years professional experience in protocol
Ø Professional protocol experience with a government body military headquarters or international organization.
Ø Minimum 3 years professional experience managing and scheduling complex programmes and high-level events.
Ø Experience dealing with senior officers and/ or senior civilian officials.
Ø Evidential experience with project coordination.
Desirable Qualifications are:
Ø Protocol experience in a Military NATO entity.
Ø Administrative experience in NATO.
Ø Completion of relevant courses / training.

The successful selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and is required to pass a medical examination before an employment contract offer will be released. The medical examination will take place with our medical consultant is required to determine if the recommended candidate is fit to perform the duties and is deployable to NATOs areas of operation.
