We are thrilled to bring JOEY Restaurants to San Jose California! With our expansion comes the opportunity to invite new talent to join our team. We are looking for high-performing passionate individuals to join a remarkable team of culinary leaders and restaurateurs as we continue the JOEY legacy in our first location in San Jose.

The Chief Steward manages the stewarding team supervises dishwashing maintains sanitation standards manages inventory of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment and supports overall kitchen and food and beverage operations. The role is fast-paced and demanding but you stay ahead by being efficient and anticipating your teams needs.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise a team of 25-30 dishwashers in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Oversee the training of new dishwashing staff ensuring they understand the companys standards and procedures and provide guidance on best practices for washing handling and storing dishware and equipment.
  • Assign duties and monitor performance to ensure all tasks are completed on time.
  • Address any performance issues or conflicts within the team promptly and professionally.
  • Communicate effectively with the front-of-house and kitchen teams regarding dish availability and cleanliness.
  • Report any issues with inventory equipment or staff performance to upper management.
  • Monitor dishwashing operations to reduce bottlenecks and ensure smooth service flow in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Inspect safety protocols and maintain a pristine work environment.
  • Advocate a safe workplace through complying with company policies standards employee relations and adherence to state laws.
  • Foster a cohesive and collaborative team environment through exemplary leadership.
  • Exude professionalism and genuine warmth and care towards fellow partners vendors business associates etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1-3 years culinary experience (If you have high potential but less experience we still want to meet you!).
  • Must have or be able to obtain valid local and/or state Food Handler permits.
  • Possess a passion for hospitality and a proven track record of creating world-class hospitality experiences.
  • Thrive in a dynamic fast-paced work environment.
  • Be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; frequent bending reaching and stretching; repetitive manual tasks; and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
