Senior Systems Technician, DMCS

The House of Commons Digital Services and real Property is currently looking to staff the Senior Systems Technician DMCS position.

This recruitment and selection process is restricted to House of Commons employees and Parliamentary partners - Senate of Canada Library of Parliament Parliamentary Protective Service Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner and Parliamentary Budget Officer.

The Senior Systems Technician is a key member of the Digital Services and Real Property team working in a product-centric environment. The role involves installing maintaining and enhancing multimedia systems and technologies including video audio security and control systems. The technician provides expert technical support troubleshooting complex multimedia and audio/video distribution issues to ensure reliable service for the House of Commons and the Senate of Canada.

They also lead projects related to system design implementation and operations providing technical direction and supervision to small project teams. The role includes analyzing processes evaluating multimedia asset lifecycles and recommending improvements to optimize performance.

This role requires flexibility to work outside regular hours including evenings weekends shifts and on-call as system maintenance and upgrades are often performed outside of business operations.

Qualifications :

Education :

• A post secondary degree or diploma in Engineering Technician or related field or an acceptable combination of education and or relevant experience and training.

Experiences:

• Extensive experience working with Electronic and Integrated Security Systems (EISS) including access control security cameras physical barriers and material scanning equipment with knowledge of building codes and compliance standards;
• Experience working with forms of critical communications and the supporting infrastructure varying from hand held communications two-way transmission fixed and cellular devices;
• Experience with catalog management and data entry management of physical goods as well as digital product lines;
• Ability to read and interpret architectural mechanical and electrical drawings; experience using drafting tools such as AutoCAD Visio and Adobe;
• Experience with documentation for software design trouble shooting and Operational support; 
• Experience in project management including resource estimation team coordination and reporting with awareness of industry trends;
• Knowledge of operational and event support requirements within the House of Commons and our security partners.

 Assets

• Experience supporting electronic systems across diverse environments;
• Understanding of network infrastructure structured cabling and system connectivity;
• Experience with Service Now:  asset tracking Catalog validation Incidents & requests;
• Experience designing and testing prototype and small-scale system solutions;
• Experience leading operational teams and contributing to project delivery outcomes;
• Experience in training of end users on operational requirements and changes to the working environments;
• Knowledge of programming and analytical methods applied to EISS technologies;
• Experience managing client and stakeholder relationships and addressing service requirements;
• Knowledge of creative and conceptual approaches to system design and improvement;
• Experience preparing clear and accurate technical documentation and communications.
