The Capital Division at NYC Parks is responsible for managing the design construction and administration of capital projects to expand improve and revitalize these public spaces. These designs impact neighborhood growth public health and fun in communities throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Major Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment collect and analyze data produce reports and prepare presentations for high profile capital projects and procurement initiatives on behalf of the Agency Chief Contracting Officer.
- Perform special projects assigned by the Agency Chief Contracting Officer including staffing and strategic initiatives procurement reform initiatives and internal process improvements and tracking.
- Assist in the drafting and tracking of high-level correspondence and responses to inquiries from press Commissioners and elected officials.
- Work with Chiefs and senior management to analyze trends and identify key opportunities for improvement in the capital and procurement processes. Assist with the implementation of division initiatives.
- Work with key stakeholders to ensure accurate procurement and program data is entered into the divisions project management software and the Citys procurement portal (PASSPort). Answer questions and help resolve issues.
- Serve as a liaison to other divisions within Parks and represent the Agency at meetings with other City agencies and industry organizations.
- Assist with other related tasks and special assignments including providing hands-on procurement contracts and Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) engagement support to the Agency Chief Contracting Officer.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
