AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Air Quality Engineer to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Air Quality Compliance team in the Bay Area. The primary emphasis of the group is to support clients with their air quality and regulatory compliance needs for a variety of industrial federal and municipal and private-sector clients.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing clients in California particularly the San Francisco Bay Area and along the West Coast as well as the ability to utilize his or her air quality experience to help our clients navigate their environmental compliance challenges.
*Please note: This position is contingent on AECOM contract award.
The responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to:
- Preparing air permit applications and air emission inventories conducting ambient air sampling and supporting other air quality compliance projects.
- Research review and analysis of air quality policy and regulations.
- Supporting regulatory compliance tasks relating to air quality.
- Maintain current knowledge of specific government agency requirements.
- Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.
- Collect and evaluate project data in both field and office settings.
- Review permits and plans to facilitate compliance with environmental regulations.
- Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
- Proactively encourage a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Health & Safety within the team.
- Collaborate with other AECOM offices practices and business lines.
- Undertake technical work in accordance with the contracted scope of work budget and schedule.
- Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies improve technical methodologies and add value to client service offerings.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients to enhance client retention and growth.

Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in relevant science or engineering discipline.
- 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with air quality experience in the Bay Area Air District.
- Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required.
- Valid US Drivers License and pre-employment driving record verification is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in chemical mechanical or civil/environmental engineering.
- 6 years of relevant experience in air quality consulting.
- Certification by a California Air District as a permitting professional.
- with a background in air quality and Bay Area Air District permitting and compliance.
- Practicing knowledge of current generation air quality models: including AERMOD HARP and/or CalEEMod.
- Experience in Title V/PSD permitting and regulatory applicability analyses.
- Experience working with agency members at California air districts such as SJVAPCD MDAQMD SDAPCD SCAQMD and/or CARB
- Understanding of local state and federal air quality rules and regulations including district regulatory programs MACT/BACT/LAER requirements New Source Review (NSR) the federal Clean Air Act and greenhouse gas regulations.
- Ability to independently manage various environmental compliance projects and programs ranging in size and scale.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands think strategically and successfully lead multiple simultaneous projects.
