Job Summary

The CERN Information Technology and Experimental Physics departments are part of an European project EVERSE that will engage a community of researchers software developers and other stakeholders to build a collaborative community for evaluating verifying and improving the quality of scientific software and code.

If you are passionate about modern communications and working with scientific communities this would be the perfect opportunity for you.

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain project websites.
  • Establish project newsletters with articles and interviews.
  • Maintain social media presence for the projects activities.
  • Plan a software seminar series together with EVERSE partners that highlight key software topics.
  • Help promoting CERN software projects collaborations and initiatives within EVERSE and affiliated projects e.g. QTI.
  •  Coordinate with colleagues in EP and IT to deliver the EVERSE part of the project.
  • Attend EVERSE meetings at CERN and other European locations.

Your profile:

  • Proven professional experience in communication related to science technology and innovation.
  • A broad knowledge of the scientific software development landscape would be an advantage.

Skills:

  • Masters degree in Science Communication will be an asset.
  • Spoken and written English with a commitment to learn French.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Communications and Outreach (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelors or Masters degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

  • A monthly stipend ranging between 5196 and 5716 Swiss Francs (net of tax).
