Job Summary

A Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist in heavy civil/transit construction is responsible for leading the full-cycle recruitment of professional staff for large-scale projects. The role requires a deep understanding of the construction industrys unique workforce demands. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire hiring process from initial sourcing and screening to offer negotiation and pre-employment requirements for both skilled trades and professional roles.
  • Collaborate with operations project management and leadership teams to forecast hiring needs and align recruitment strategies with organizational goals.
  • Develop and execute creative and data-driven sourcing strategies using job boards social media professional networking industry events and targeted outreach to attract a diverse talent pool.
  • Build and maintain strong pipelines of qualified candidates for high-volume and hard-to-fill positions including specialized construction roles.
  • Ensure a positive and professional experience for all candidates throughout the entire recruitment process.
  • Track recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill and quality of hire to improve efficiency and inform leadership decisions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor market trends industry best practices and competitive compensation strategies in heavy civil construction.
  • Represent the company at recruitment events post-secondary career fairs and community outreach to build the employer brand and strengthen long-term talent pipelines. 

Qualifications :

  • 5-7 years of recruiting experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience specifically within the construction industry ideally in the  heavy civil and transit sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage full-cycle recruiting including experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Strong experience developing and implementing innovative sourcing strategies.
  • Excellent communication negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and partner effectively with hiring managers.
  • Experience in both field and professional/office recruitment is preferred.
