Position Overview
The Family Specialist I provides in-home virtual or in-office counseling to individuals and families using a strength-based attachment-focused approach. You will assess and develop treatment plans to improve individual and family functioning while maintaining 20 hours of direct client care each week. This role requires a high degree of independence professionalism and self-motivation.
Core Responsibilities
Assess and Treat:Conduct assessments diagnose individuals and develop treatment plans under supervisor guidance.
Provide Therapy:Deliver in-person and telehealth therapy focused on improving individual and family well-being through skill-building and supportive interventions.
Client Care:Maintain 20 direct client care hours weekly while balancing documentation and administrative responsibilities.
Crisis Management:Provide responsive compassionate support during crises as needed.
Documentation:Complete all session notes assessments and treatment plans accurately and on time.
Community Engagement:Build and maintain referral networks and collaborate with community partners to support client needs.
Collaboration:Participate in team meetings case consultations and support fellow staff members.
Confidentiality:Uphold HIPAA standards and Thornwells commitment to ethical and confidential care.
Working Conditions
Location: Office-based at a local host church with regular community-based client sessions.
Schedule: Standard hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with flexibility to adjust scheduling based on client and family needs.
Travel: Must use a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed). Occasional overnight travel for organizational meetings or trainings may be required.
Technology: Organization provides technology including computers secure video conferencing and electronic record systems.
Qualifications
Education: Masters degree in social work Counseling or a related behavioral health field.
Licensure: Must be actively working toward an independent clinical license.
Experience: Prior experience working with youth families and/or trauma-informed care preferred.
Skills: Strong organizational skills time management and ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Drivers License: Valid state drivers license and proof of automobile insurance required.
