PacAeros core businesses include an array of electronic connectors and housings for the worlds most extreme environments. PacAero is primarily located in Wenatchee WA with a remote manufacturing site Bonded Metals located in Sequim WA. Working together we employ proprietary technologies best practices engineering and specialized manufacturing techniques to produce hermetic connectors and electronic packaging that perform in the worlds most extreme environments. PacAeros products are hard at work in medical components such as cardiac-function devices on key aerospace & defense programs in space and deep below the earths surface.
Job Summary
The Level III CNC Machinist is a highly skilled independent contributor responsible for performing complex multi-step setups and running production on advanced CNC machinery (3- and 4-axis). This role requires deep expertise in programming edits tooling and fixture adjustments along with the ability to diagnose and resolve machining issues without assistance. The machinist ensures first-part accuracy performs advanced inspections including first-article and GD&T checks and maintains high efficiency and quality standards.
In addition to machining responsibilities the role requires excellent communication collaboration and leadership skillsproviding support to less experienced machinists and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Adherence to safety policies company procedures and strong attention to detail are essential as is the ability to manage workflow with minimal supervision.
Schedule: Must be willing to work one of the following schedules decided at hire. First couple months will train on Day shift.
- Day Shift 4x10: Monday through Thursday 5:00am to 3:30pm.
- Night Shift 4x10: Monday through Thursday 3:15pm to 1:45am; Includes a $2/hr Shift premium. (Will train on Day Shift 1-2 months at start)
- Weekend Day Shift 3x12: Friday through Sunday 5:00am to 6:00pm (earlier leave time if waiving 2nd lunch); Includes a $2/hr Shift premium. Includes 4 stock hours to round up to a 40 hour work week.
- Weekend Night Shift 3x12: Friday through Sunday 5:00pm to 6:00am (earlier leave time if waiving 2nd lunch); Includes a $2/hr Shift premium. Includes 4 stock hours to round up to a 40 hour work week.
Primary Responsibilities

- Observe safety regulations and follow protective equipment requirements. Report hazardous observations to your lead or supervisor.
- Must be able to retain information and show continued progression towards a level III machinist role.
Level III Machinist Responsibilities
- Independently run production parts including quick-change jobs and one-off components. Proficient in setting up machines downloading and adjusting CNC programs and verifying first-part quality.
- Perform complete setups including preparing and installing fixtures cutting and selecting tooling setting tool offsets and making necessary tool and fixture offset adjustments. Capable of dialing in new tools and the ability to identify when cutters need replaced.
- Execute complex multi-step setups on advanced CNC equipment including 3- and 4-axis machines. Ensure alignment with shop documentation processes and best practices throughout all machining operations.
- Consistently meeting allocated set-up times.
- Validate programs before a production run and perform/suggest edits to speeds and feeds and canned cycles for optimal efficiency and part accuracy with lead/programming approval.
- Perform initial quality inspections on materials and finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances. Also capable of maintaining a consistent high-quality level of deburr and visual inspection.
- Capable of performing basic shop math for calculating dimensions.
- Have keen attention to detail to ensure finished parts meet precise specifications and quality standards.
- Use a range of precision measurement devices such as calipers micrometers height gauges bore gauges smart scope CMM Trimos and they can inspect parts and verify that they meet the required dimensional tolerances.
- Read and interpret work order steps blueprints and specifications to understand the requirements for each job.
- Load raw materials and finished parts into machines (up to 50lbs).
- Maintain logs of production and quality data as required. Ex: run sheets and inspection routines.
- Keep the work area tools and equipment clean and organized.
- Identifying and escalating any operational issues to lead or supervisor.
- Diagnose and resolve complex machining issues during set-ups and production runs without outside assistance. This requires a deep understanding of machine principles tooling and materials.
- Maintains an efficiency level of 90% or higher while running production.
- Perform sophisticated inspections including first-article inspections on run 1 jobs using advanced measurement tools and applying a strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Take ownership of the first part runs and ensure they meet all design specifications.
- Assist in the safe recovery of machinery after a malfunction or error.
- Provide training and guidance to less experienced machinists (Level I and II) when lead is busy.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with leads or manager/supervisor and other production personnel to improve processes level of 85% or higher while running production.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Typically requires 8 years minimum experience to demonstrate proficiency in set-ups and other experienced tasks.
Work Environment
- Noise: Machine shop can often be a loud environment with constant noise from equipment requiring mandatory hearing protection.
- Safety hazards: Machinists are exposed to inherent risks from powerful high-speed equipment including moving parts and sharp tools. Safety protocols are critical to prevent injuries.
- Contaminants: The work involves exposure to airborne particles like metal dust coolant mist and chemical fumes necessitating adequate ventilation and protective measures to minimize health risks.
- Protective gear: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is a requirement for safety. This includes safety glasses and hearing protection.
- Shift work: Must be flexible to work any of the following shifts: M-Th 5am-3:30pm M-Th 3:15pm-1:45am Fri-Sun 5am-6pm and Fri-Sun 5pm-6am.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing: Machinists spend long hours on their feet operating and monitoring machines on the shop floor.
- Lifting: The job often requires lifting and moving heavy parts or raw materials. Some roles may involve moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity: Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are necessary for manipulating tools setting up machines and performing precise measurements.
- Repetitive motion: Many tasks such as loading and unloading workpieces deburring parts inspecting parts are repetitive and can potentially lead to musculoskeletal issues over time.
- Precision and vision: Machinists must have excellent close-up vision depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors to accurately read blueprints inspect finished products and use measuring instruments.
- Stamina: Physical stamina is required for the duration of a shift to perform duties like loading materials monitoring machinery and conducting quality control checks.
