Job Summary

Adult Education ESL Teacher

Position

The Waltham Public Schools is seeking dynamic and passionate teachers for our Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) Evening Program. Our organization is committed to providing high-quality education and support to adult learners in our community who are seeking to improve their English language skills.

Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging and interactive ESL lessons to adult learners.
Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and interaction.
Assess students language proficiency and progress regularly.
Provide constructive feedback to students to support their language development.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall educational experience for students.
Stay informed about best practices in ESL teaching and incorporate them into lesson plans.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree (Degrees in Education English Linguistics or a related field are preferred but not required)
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with adult learners.
Familiarity with ESL teaching methodologies.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of adult learners.
Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Terms of Employment

The program will run Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:00-6:30 pm beginning in late October and running through the end of May.

Salary

$40/hour. For every hour of instruction teachers will also be compensated for a half hour of prep.
