Adult Education English (ESL) Instructors

Instructors needed for Beginner and Intermediate level Adult ESL classes offeredfor families of Marlborough EL students

Work Year:

2025-2026 School Year

Effective Datesof Employment:

October 14 2025 - June 11 2026

Classes are on Wednesday nights 1 pre-meeting on October 14 2025.

Schedule:

Fall 17-Class Cohort: October 15 2025 - February 11 2026
Spring 17-Class Cohort: February 11 2026 - June 10 2026

Wednesday night classes 4 hours weekly (6:30pm - 8:30pm class arrival at 6:00pm & departure at 9:00pm 1 hour prep)

Additionally there will be one pre-program meeting October 14 2025.

Compensation*:

$35 per hour to be paid off timesheets.

*This is a grant funded position.

Organizational RelationshipOr Line of Authority:

Directly responsible to the Director of English Learner Education (ELE)

Statement of Duties:

Participate in Pre-Program Meeting for class list creation and general information
Create a scope and sequence for a language class for adults focusing on school-related vocabulary and developing a language base.
Plan and deliver lessons for a conversation-based class
Continuously monitor and support participants providing constructive feedback
Collaborate with instructors of Spanish & Portuguese Mini Courses to coordinate 2 Cultural/Linguistic Exchange Evenings during class sessions
Work with Adult ESL Coordinatorto fill vacated class
Furnish sub plans if absent

Qualifications:

Adult Education experience preferred
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
