Job Description:

The University of Florida invites applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Special Education. This is a 12-month non-tenure accruing faculty appointment with primary responsibilities in teaching and advising students in our world-class graduate programs. We welcome a candidate whose teaching and scholarship address significant issues in special education. UFs special education programs are consistently ranked among the nations best by U.S. News and World Report. We are currently ranked No. 4 in the nation for Special Education Graduate programs and No. 1 for Online Special Education Graduate programs.

The successful applicant is expected to teach across a range of undergraduate and graduate programs particularly those designed to support special educators professional learning in the areas of behavior and academic supports and interventions; support collaborative efforts in program development and continuous improvement; disseminate their scholarship of teaching at professional conferences and through appropriate publications; and engage in service to the program school college university and profession. The successful applicant will join a collaborative cohesive and energetic community of scholars within the College that is committed to high quality teaching research and service.

The 12-month faculty appointment is expected to begin in August 2026. Salary is negotiable competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Special Education Program is housed within the School of Special Education School Psychology and Early Childhood Studies. The schools faculty and four associated centers are national leaders in generating more than $50 million in external funding providing excellent opportunities for collaboration with UF colleagues and community partners. These centers include the CEEDAR Center the UF Literacy Institute (UFLI) the Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies (AZCEECS) and the UF Prevention and Intervention Network (PIN) for Youth Families and Communities.

Expected Salary:

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate in special education or closely related field
  • Highly promising or established record of excellence in teaching advising and/or mentoring students in higher education contexts
  • Experience in K-12 teaching and/or leadership positions involving students with disabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing and delivering high quality instruction in face-to-face hybrid and online formats in higher education settings
  • Highly promising or established record of teaching courses with a focus on behavior
  • Experience with online learning management systems (e.g. Canvas)
