What you will be doing
The Manager Entrepreneurship is responsible for the successful implementation of the Colleges vision of entrepreneurship through a college-wide effort. This position is instrumental in ensuring that the strategic objectives of Entrepreneurship at NSCC are met through a collaborative team approach. The Manager Entrepreneurship will also use their internal and external relationships to further identify new program and project opportunities for the college as they relate to NSCCs Research Innovation & Entrepreneurship Agenda and through other College strategic areas.
The incumbent will be one of the leading faces of the College within the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem sector and will need to regularly act as liaison between College stakeholders ecosystem partners and the external entrepreneurship community. Similarly the incumbent will collaborate across schools and campuses and will stimulate engagement across all faculty staff and students. This work incorporates the efficient management of budgets and operational planning and can maximize and leverage results under constraints. Through self-motivated collaboration the incumbents previous experience makes them an influencer with integrity that has built trust within communities and among the public. This position is responsible for creating and delivering programs that provide value to the College in furtherance of NSCCs strategic plan.
This position is one of two Manager Entrepreneurship roles at NSCC each overseeing a distinct portfolio while sharing common responsibilities in advancing entrepreneurship across the College.
Manager Entrepreneurship
- Liaises with NSCC faculty staff and students; industry; and affiliated organizations throughout the province to promote engagement with the College.
- Works collaboratively with the Senior Manager of Entrepreneurship to develop a long-term plan and operational budget linked to the Entrepreneurship program.
- Works directly with campus Principals Management Teams and other staff across the college to identify and implement a culture of entrepreneurship using an extra co and curricular strategy.
- Develops a comprehensive understanding of the business environment particularly as it relates to Entrepreneurship and implements a broad college approach based on leading research community partner supports and services
- Develops adapts and maintains a set of core entrepreneurship resources for college use both in and outside of the classroom (including materials guides etc)
- Identifies key issues and opportunities for the College as well as individual campuses for any new program development initiatives related to Entrepreneurship.
- Supports the development of a Makerspace Strategy that includes both college affiliated and operated makerspaces as well as those that are external.
- In collaboration with various NSCC departments research analyzes and conceptualizes new entrepreneurial program ideas and opportunities (individually or with project teams including Alumni Relations Applied Research curriculum consultants industry groups Academic Chairs/faculty Principals Campus teams as well as external partners.)
- Coaches and provides leadership in creating and sustaining a quality applied learning environment.
- Operates in accordance with the Colleges collective agreements and policy & procedures.
This position may require travel throughout the province and occasional weekends/evenings based on stakeholder needs.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in a related discipline such as business or business administration entrepreneurship and adult education.
- You have a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related occupational experience working in the field of entrepreneurship education developing and implanting entrepreneurial programming as an entrepreneur or someone who has experience in the startup sector.
- You have proven experience fostering and growing external entrepreneurial networks.
- You have a proven track record in building fostering and maintaining relationships.
- Experience developing and managing budgets.
- You have demonstrated Project Management experience.
- Strong demonstration of facilitation skills.
- Experience in the development of effective internal and external communications and analytical writing skills.
- You possess experience and a solid understanding of the principles and practices of adult learning.
- Management and supervisory skills would be an asset.
