We are currently looking to fill the position of Career & Employment Coach Graduate Career Services to join our Sobey School of Business team.

Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Associate Dean Undergraduate Programs and Professional Graduate Program the Career & Employment Coach will:

  • Advise and coach graduate business students on developing their resumes job search strategies and self-branding
  • Provide career development and employability readiness guidance through one-on-one and group coaching sessions
  • Serve as both a resource and liaison to employers students and faculty
  • Promotes various on-campus recruitment activities and support students in preparation of events
  • Assist with overall planning and execution of the Graduate Career Services program
  • Provide recommendations for external marketing/promotion of SSB employer recruitment services for graduate and intern career opportunities in collaboration with the Employer Outreach Coordinator and Manager.
  • Provide and implement recommendations for Social Media marketing to promote Sobey School of Business career and recruitment activities in collaboration with team.
  • Support in the preparation of bi-weekly e-newsletter update email for students and faculty containing relevant articles/news items (some items may be prepared by the position incumbent)
  • Communicate and promote corporate information sessions to graduate students and relevant faculty members to ensure attendance.
  • Offer support on recruitment events such as corporate tours and career fairs which may involve logistical and budget management the promotion of sessions to key stakeholders sponsorship and providing recommendations to the committee based on analysis of student and employer evaluations.
  • Coordinate and promote special events such as Interview Competitions speaker series and industry panels.
  • Support in the development and delivery of career-related workshops open office hours and other regular programming of Graduate Career Services.
  • Identify and promote external industry events where SSB should have a presence to relevant student disciplines and prepares weekly report on events for the Director Graduate Career Services.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and record keeping of both student and employer activities
  • Records student attendance at all on-campus recruitment activities and events.
  • Tracks records and analyses statistics related to employer information sessions and job posting.
  • Supports and collaborates to collect and compile student feedback and prepares report for review by Associate Dean Undergraduate Programs and Professional Graduate Program.

Experience and Education Requirements

To be the successful Career & Employment Coach you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources Social Sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of directly related experience.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to participate in consultative decision making within a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of employment principles such as labour market information resume format trends LinkedIn job search software best practices in self-branding and networking
  • Strong oral written presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 including Publisher Excel and PowerPoint SharePoint OneDrive Mailchimp Eventbrite Career360 Qualtrics Canva Social Media (Twitter Facebook & LinkedIn) as well as database software and virtual meeting spaces i.e. Zoom and MS Teams
  • Ability to work some evening and weekends as well as occasional travel within NS as required.
  • A background in cross-cultural communication would be considered an asset.
