This role will require being full-time onsite at our Toronto office to support collaborative team dynamics and innovative problem-solving.

BitGo is seeking a skilled Staff Data Engineer to join our Internal Tools Engineering team and help build scale and automate internal processes related to financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has a strong track record as both a Software Engineer developing and scaling applications that support our product suite and a Data Engineer designing and implementing robust data infrastructure to move and transform data efficiently.

At BitGo Data Engineering plays a critical role in enabling insights and innovation. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the platform that makes data accessible and actionable for other engineering product and finance teams empowering them with the tools and frameworks needed to seamlessly integrate data into their products and processes. Youll collaborate closely with talented engineers analysts data scientists product managers and security experts across multiple domains gaining exposure to all facets of our business.

Responsibilities:

• Design build and maintain scalable reliable data pipelines that collect transform and curate data from internal systems.
• Integrate select external data sources to enrich the data platform.
• Develop applications that support customer-facing products and internal systems.
• Enhance and expand BitGos blockchain reporting infrastructure and automated reconciliation systems.
• Ensure high data quality and auditability across all pipelines.
• Optimize data systems for near real-time processing and insights.
• Develop and customize self-service tools empowering data consumers to efficiently extract and analyze data from BitGos large-scale data platform.
• Research evaluate and prototype new technologies to drive continuous improvement in data engineering.

Required

• Engineering degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 8 years of work experience in relevant field (Data Engineer Software Engineer DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer etc)
• Strong experience with server-side languages like TypeScript/ experience with SQL databases like Postgres or MySQL
• Strong experience with RESTful API design
• Experience building data pipelines/ETL and familiarity with design principles
• Experience with data warehouse technologies and relevant data modeling best practices (Snowflake BigQuery Spark Presto Druid etc)
• Strong experience with systems design and event driven systems (Kafka)
• A self-starter capable of adapting quickly and being decisive
• Experience leading projects and other engineers
• Experience with unit and functional testing and debugging
• Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures
• Experience in Git/GitHub and branching methodologies code review tools CI tools JIRA Confluence etc.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable with inclusion in on-call rotations for system support
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

• Experience in Financial Services and/or Financial Technology
• Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures
• Understanding and strong interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain industry
• Experience with large-scale real-time and distributed applications
• Experience with data governance handling PII data masking

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending upon your leveling and location the compensation for this role averages between $240000 - $280000 CAD base salary. Equity and an annual performance bonus are also a part of this roles package.
