About the role:

At Compass you will work as an Enhanced School Age Educator alongside some of the most passionate caring and dedicated educators in the industry. You will spend your time engaging connecting and learning alongside children families community partners and co-workers. You are passionate about early learning and care emergent curriculum and lifelong learning. You are energetic resourceful and creative in your pursuits of creating learning opportunities building connections and engaging with children and families. You will work 30 hours per week Monday to Friday.


Location and hours will be based on the needs and funding of the program. Program hours are typically between 7 am to 6 pm.


Some accountabilities associated with the role include:

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect childrens unique interests to promote the physical cognitive emotional and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
  • Documenting childrens learning progress through observation reflection and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health safety and well-being of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering dressing and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers families and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings professional learning opportunities and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC CCEYA and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years experience working with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check Standard First Aid and CPR Level C and updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
    • OR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
    • OR has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Directors Approval (i.e. Child and Youth Recreation and Leisure and Ontario Certified Teachers - Primary and Junior)
