Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the scheduling of outside medical appointments internal sick call appointments daily out-rosters for any other medically related appointments to include pulling records and issuing OTRS.
  • Reviews NextGen charts to make sure follow up appointments x-rays lab draws mammograms etc. are scheduled.
  • Establishes and coordinates a system of checks and balances for ensuring appointment fulfillment records accuracy timeliness of prescription administration and timeliness of chronically ill follow-ups as well as other critical functions of the institutional medical area.
  • Monitors institutional medical records.
  • Updates NextGen.
  • Creates missing medical files.
  • Pulls medical files for transferring inmates.
  • Reviews medical chart annually to determine if any chronically ill individual has missed an annual follow-up.
  • Encourages compliance with medication documentation requirements.
  • Monitors the timeliness of prescription refill requests and receipt ensuring that prescription refills are sent to the pharmacy filled and returned in a timely manner upon receipt at institution distributed as appropriate by nursing staff.
  • Ensures all transferring inmates medication is pulled by nursing staff and given to institutional operations personnel for transport along with the inmate.
  • Prepares and maintains specialized reports including a weekly report documenting any medical inconsistencies prescription refill issues appointments missed new chronic illnesses and other critical services to ensure follow-through.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State ofSouth Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management public administration or administrative services. A bachelors degree may be substituted for required work experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
  • A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management public administration or administrative services

OR

  • A bachelors degree and two (2) years of administrative experience.



Preferred Qualifications

Five (5) years of experience preferred.
