The Centre for Aging and Disability Justice is a hub for research and public engagement on aging and disability justice. The Centre supports interdisciplinary community-partnered and first voice-led research that addresses critical policy issues with a focus on rural communities.

We invite applications for the following position: Program Assistant Collective Impact Initiative (CII). This initiative is building a rural community network to create sustain and promote age-friendly futures in Northeastern Nova Scotia. The Program Assistant will support the Program Manager with tasks related to the coordination communication and administrative functions of a Collective Impact initiative. The role is key to ensuring the smooth implementation of activities timely reporting and strong collaboration across working groups and community role will work closely with the CII Program Manager and Co-Directors.

This position is in-person on StFX campus with possibility of some work from home. Evening and weekend hours will be rare but may occasionally be required to support or participate in project-related events.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager with planning and documenting meetings workshops and events
  • Prepare meeting notes briefing materials and presentation slides
  • Maintain contact lists shared drives and online collaboration platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams SharePoint)
  • Support communication and collaboration among backbone staff working groups and community partners
  • Contribute to the development of newsletters website updates and social media communications
  • Assist with project activities such as asset mapping and developing training and educational materials
  • Engage with and support student assistants involved in the project
  • Support data collection organization and management for monitoring evaluation and learningpurposes
  • Support the preparation of progress reports and funder documentation
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with database management
  • Provide logistical support for community engagement sessions and partner convenings
  • Create surveys using software (e.g. Qualtrics) with the guidance of team members

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree in Social Sciences Community Development Public Policy Health studies or a related field
  • 1-3 years experience in project coordination community engagement or administrative support
  • Strong organizational skills attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team as well as independently
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing presentations and reports
  • Experienced user of MS Office Suite (Word PowerPoint Excel Outlook Teams)
  • Background knowledge of community-engaged or multi-stakeholder projects is an asset
  • Knowledge of participatory approaches is an asset
  • Commitment to equity social justice and reconciliation
