Location: This position is full-time (40-hours/week) Monday-Friday in a typical office environment. This role is onsite at I-20 @ Alpine Rd. Columbia SC.
Position Purpose: Supports attorneys by performing a variety of legal tasks including gathering and organizing information drafting routine legal documents conducting legal research and serving as a liaison between internal clients and outside counsel.
What Youll Do:
Reviews legal documents such as complaints administrative charges and attorney demand letters to identify factual and legal issues. Determines investigative strategy prepares litigation holds and gathers relevant company documentation in collaboration with internal teams. Summarizes findings in reports and memoranda for internal and external counsel and supports outside counsel with discovery deposition preparation and trial coordination.
Reviews and analyzes contracts to identify legal risks and issues prepares redlines and communicates findings to attorneys. Completes other duties as assigned.
Manages responses to subpoenas and similar document requests by coordinating with internal and external counsel. Communicates with requesting parties and prepares and sends responsive documents.
Researches and interprets state and federal laws including federal acquisition regulations to support legal decision-making. Applies knowledge of relevant regulations in areas such as insurance benefits employment and government programs. Drafts legal correspondence reports and documents and recommends appropriate actions based on findings.
To Qualify For This Position Youll Need The Following:
Required Education: Bachelors
Degree Equivalency: 4 years job related work experience or Associates and 2 years job related work experience.
Required Work Experience: 4 years legal experience including detailed litigation and transactional work experience.
Required Skills and Abilities: Must be practical customer service and detail oriented. Must have good written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the company and the ability to proofread documents for proper grammar and usage and for other errors. Must be comfortable working independently in a supportive but learn by doing atmosphere. Must exercise confidentiality and discretion and have the ability to solve problems with minimal supervision. Must be comfortable in an on-site work environment demonstrate initiative and be highly motivated.
Required Software and Other Tools: Microsoft Office.
We Prefer That You Have The Following:
Preferred Work Experience: 6 years-legal experience including detailed litigation and transactional work experience.
Preferred Software and Other tools: Knowledge of Microsoft Access and other database software.
Preferred Licenses and Certificates: Paralegal Certification
