AECOM is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Office Engineer (OE) on highway bridge related CM projects on Long Island in Suffolk County. The Office Engineer acts as the organizational and administrative backbone of a construction management project. The role involves extensive documentation tracking payments and materials and coordinating communications between the field and various project stakeholders.
This position will be located in the field office of the project to which the OE is assigned and will be supervised by a Resident Engineer.
- Follow NYSDOT MURK to set up and maintain comprehensive project record-keeping and filing systems including all paperwork and correspondence
- Initiate review and track change orders and requests for information (RFIs)
- Process progress estimates for contractor payments. This often includes using NYSDOT-specific software such as AASHTO Site Manager or similar payment processing software.
- Assist with project and office start-up and the closeout process which may include resolving claims.
- Serve as a liaison between the contractor the CM Team and the client Agency
- Record and distribute minutes from project progress meetings.
- Review and track the status of submissions and correspondence with contractors and subcontractors in compliance with NYSDOT Standard Specifications and material approved lists
- Schedule and document material testing
- Review daily work reports from field inspectors for accuracy and compliance
- Track civil rights goals and requirements on EBO and ensure that contractor payroll and other required paperwork comply with EEO and trainee requirements
- tracking quantities of completed work and sometimes visiting the site to verify conditions
- Track project incident reporting and collect weekly toolboxes from contractors.
- Coordinate lane closure requests
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Due to the projects associated with this position a US Citizenship is required
- Highway/Bridge Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and/or Suffolk County Department of Public Works policies and procedures as well as familiarity with federally funded projects is preferred.
- Excellent written communications and presentation abilities in internal project settings with the senior management team external project stakeholders including senior client management leadership
- Software proficiency in Procore SharePoint MS Project
- Microsoft Office CEES and EBO software as well as MURK Federal Aid policies and procedures and the NYS LPM (formally PLAFAP) Manual
