Job Summary

Overview

Making the decision to enter treatment can be an intimidating experience for the people we support. You can make a difference.

CGL Harm Reduction peer educators will be a great community asset and will complement the existing provision of overdose awareness and naloxone training. Under the scheme Harm Reduction Peer Educators (HRPE) will make direct supplies of naloxone and Injecting equipment provision to individuals they have trained/educated using the CGL Supply Framework.

Responsibilities

With this role youll be working as part of HRPE team based in Edinburgh

In the HRPE role it is necessary for our volunteers to have lived or living experience with substance misuse issues as our Harm Reduction Peer educators.

Its often overwhelming for the people we support to make changes in their lives as a harm reduction peer educator volunteer you will be using your own personal experiences to help provide and train individuals around overdose awareness and how to administer naloxone.

Legislation in 2015 was passed to allow the supply of naloxone to be made without the need for a prescription or Patient Group Direction.

This legislation is specific to services which are engaged in providing drug treatment and means that people undertaking other roles within these drug treatment services can now make supplies of naloxone in addition to nurses and pharmacists.

This is what one ofour Volunteer Recovery Co-ordinators/people who use our servicehad to say (use quotes from your service): I like the team spirit that we all bring something different and we always put the people who use our service first.

Our values are to be compassionate open and bold. If this sounds like you wed love to hear from youso click apply.
