We are seeking a Lead Fire ICT Engineerto join the Fire ICT team assist Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service on their Digital and Data transformation across a range of exciting projects.

Your role and responsibilities

Working in Fire ICT your days will be varied and busy.

  • Manage incoming service requests via ITSM email or phone allocating tickets to engineers and escalating complex issues as needed.
  • Lead daily support for IT infrastructure networking and datacentre systems including installation troubleshooting and monitoring.
  • Oversee and maintain critical communication systems such as radio telephony (ICCS) and emergency alerting platforms.
  • Ensure data security and policy compliance while mentoring ICT engineers through training and technical guidance.
  • Lead ICT projects and participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support for essential systems.

The team

Youll be joining a supportive and forward-thinking team and you will play a vital role in troubleshooting problem-solving and implementing solutions to the highest standards.

The Fire ICT Team focuses on the blue light element of Fire and Rescue Service systems including systems which alert fire personnel to incidents provide information to the incident ground using mobile data terminals on fire engines allow communications through mobile phones Airwave radios and Wi-Fi and systems to capture information which can be used by other teams to monitor performance.

The team is based at Ipswich East Fire Station but is responsible for equipment at all thirty-five fire stations across Suffolk along with the primary and secondary Fire Control locations.
