Job Summary
The Tribe DevEx & System Engineering is part of Engineering & Reliability focusing on driving end-to-end system optimisation increasing engineering productivity and enhancing developer experience. We build on a unified engineering system -- a Swiss Army knife used by thousands of ING engineers.
The team
You will join the AutoCert team. A passionate group of Java developers that build INGs in-house ACME server and supporting tools for our hybrid cloud. We pride ourselves in following the ACME specification to the smallest detail while applying high level coding standards. Our mission: make certificate expiry a thing of the past through automated renewal and high-quality engineering.
The AutoCert team leverages technologies such as:
Quarkus (for supersonic subatomic Java)
Red hat Openshift
Azure Devops (Repositories/Pipelines/Functions and more)
Oracle
Apache Airflow
ACME clients (Certbot cert-manager and POSH-ACME)
Linux and Windows Virtual machines
Helm Bash Python Powershell and Ansible
Roles and responsibilities
As a Dev Engineer you will help us refine and improve AutoCert while at the same time improving the lives of all our users by supporting them in onboarding. Our mission is to prevent certificate related outages for ING worldwide!
Design develop and maintain our Quarkus-based ACME server and supporting tools ensuring high performance and reliability.
Collaborate with the team to propose and implement new features that enhance developer experience and system resilience.
Support internal users across ING in onboarding and integrating ACME clients (e.g. Certbot cert-manager) guiding them through automated certificate management.
Contribute to platform stability by improving automation observability and lifecycle management of certificates across hybrid cloud environments.
Continuously improve code quality through peer reviews testing and adherence to engineering best practices.
Stay current with developments in Java Quarkus and cloud-native technologies and share insights with the team.

Have hands-on experience with Java and Quarkus and a strong interest in cloud-native development.
Be comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred) and container orchestration platforms like OpenShift.
Understand certificate management and be familiar with ACME protocols and clients.
Be proactive in user support and onboarding with a focus on enabling others through documentation and tooling.
Demonstrate strong collaboration skills contributing to team discussions and cross-functional initiatives.
Show a growth mindset continuously learning and adapting to new technologies and challenges
