Description

A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program.

The research program of Dr. Nathan LeBrasseur at the Mayo Clinic located in Rochester Minnesota is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a dynamic interdisciplinary research team focused on understanding the basic mechanisms of aging. The primary goal of our research is to develop clinically relevant strategies to address human aging and healthspan. Skeletal muscle aging and the contribution of cellular senescence to the aging process is of particular interest Dr. LeBrasseurs research program. Our lab is part of a highly collaborative and innovative research environment located within the Robert and Arlene Kogod Center on Aging.

The successful candidate will contribute to NIH-funded projects through a range of activities including data collection and management data analysis and leading or co-authoring scholarly manuscripts. Areas of focus may include multi-omics and imaging approaches such as multiplexed immunofluorescence single-cell or single-nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial omics in cultured cells mouse models as well as in clinically derived tissues. The desired candidate must have experience in molecular and cellular biology and a strong desire to develop skills in integrating genomics transcriptomics proteomics and metabolomics data using programming languages like Python or R and applying machine learning methods to research complex biological and clinical datasets.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars Research Scholars Professors Specialists and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.



Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the of field biology bioinformatics computational biology biostatistics or a related field. The most important qualities we value are:

Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
