Job Summary

Since we opened our doors in 2009 the world of commerce has evolved immensely and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale we saw sellers stymied by disparate outmoded products and tools that wouldnt work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated omnichannel solutions to help sellers sell online manage inventory offer buy now pay later functionality book appointments engage loyal buyers and hire and pay staff. Across it all weve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper increase order sizes and compete at a larger scale.

Today we are a partner to sellers of all sizes large enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations sellers just starting as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. Were building a significant meaningful and lasting business and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

The Role

Our Japan Marketing team is focused on accelerating business growth by driving high-quality leads and conversions through full-funnel marketing programs. We work closely with global and Japanese stakeholders to execute strategies that resonate with our target audiences.

Were looking for a strategic and creative Content Manager who can lead our blog Townsquare and our SNS (especially YouTube) presence into their next phase of AI-powered growth blending storytelling SEO and emerging content technologies to reach our prospective seller community.

You Will

Content Strategy & Editorial Leadership

  • Develop and execute a content strategy that aligns with Squares marketing objectives.
  • Plan and manage the editorial calendar for Townsquare SNS and YouTube balancing evergreen topics with timely stories.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align content with campaign and product goals.

YouTube & Multimedia Growth

  • Lead the SNS content strategy from concept development to publication and optimization.
  • Work with production partners and internal teams to produce high-quality written and visual content.
  • Identify opportunities for content repurposing between blog and video formats.

SEO & Trend Awareness

  • Monitor and apply the latest SEO trends Google algorithm updates and search behavior insights to drive traffic growth.
  • Conduct keyword and content gap analyses to uncover new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with SEO and analytics teams to continuously optimize content performance.
  • Stay informed about AI-driven search changes (e.g. SGE multimodal search) and apply learnings to content strategy.

AI-Enhanced Content Operations

  • Integrate AI tools to support ideation research editing and workflow efficiency.
  • Experiment with generative AI to improve productivity while maintaining editorial quality.
  • Share learnings internally on how AI is reshaping content creation and discovery.

You Have

  • 5 years of experience in content marketing digital media or editorial management.
  • Proven track record of growing blog or SNS audiences through SEO and storytelling.
  • Deep curiosity and habit of staying up to date on SEO and AI trends.
  • Experience using analytics tools (Google Analytics Search Console YouTube Studio).
  • Native or fluent Japanese; business-level English.
  • Excellent writing editing and project management skills.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in SaaS fintech or small-business marketing.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI tools for content creation (ChatGPT Jasper etc.).
  • Understanding of visual storytelling and video production processes.
