TITLE: Medical Technologist II EUHM Core Lab (multiple openings)
DUTIES: Perform various laboratory tests and procedures while adhering to standard operating procedures on patient specimens to assist in the diagnosis study and treatment or prevention of disease. Uphold the values of the organization including providing and demonstrating exemplary customer service skills throughout the pre-analytical analytical and post analytical processes. May perform tests including but not limited to standardized and semi-routine biological chemical hematological immunological immunohematological microbiological and serological tests in a research or clinical laboratory. Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and calibrate equipment and instruments as required. Operate laboratory equipment and troubleshoot equipment and instrument malfunctions. May serve as key operator for implementation of new equipment and procedures.
SHIFT: 2pm-12:30am Monday-Thursday
LOCATION: Emory Healthcare Inc. 550 Peachtree Street NE Atlanta GA 30308
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science Medical Technology or related field of study and two (2) years of experience as a Medical Technologist or related role where required experience gained.
Bachelors degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelors degree requirement by ASCP and a HEW/HHS technologist certified by Health and Human Services and four (4) years of experience as a Medical Technologist or related role where required experience gained.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Also requires experience in the following:
- Certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) the American Medical Technologists (AMT) the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA) the American Association of Bioanalysts (ABB) or another agency approved by the GA Department of Community Health generalist or categorical if applicable;
- Gathering data to monitor quality improvement standards and in preparing reports; experience documenting deviations from policy and procedures; documenting supplier concerns;
- Maintaining accurate and complete documentation of patient information equipment and test results to comply with regulations; experience performing instrument maintenance troubleshooting as indicated communicating with vendors regarding out-of-service equipment and performing alternative testing methods;
- Documenting corrective actions taken for out-of-range test values; and recognizing instrument performance issues prioritize testing needs and perform alternative testing methods contacting vendor for service and taking instruments out of service;
- Working at a large hospital setting lab and working at a high volume fast pace and STAT lab;
- Large instrumentation with high throughput and performing instrument maintenance and troubleshooting;
- Two (2) years of chemistry analyzers and testing menu general chemistry immunoassays and manual chemistry;
- One (1) year of body fluids differentials and identifying and differentiating between red and white cells platelets other cells crystals and artifacts;
- One (1) year of Coagulation Cascade testing and the principle of the instruments and clot curves;
- Urinalysis testing; automated and manual testing and identify urines particulates including crystals and casts; and
- Training and supporting staff.
