Main Purpose of Job

The MDH Healthcare System comprises eleven MDH owned and operated healthcare facilities including adult psychiatric hospitals regional institutes for children and adolescents (RICAs) facilities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and long-term care hospitals. The eleven operating facilities are Spring Grove Hospital Center Springfield Hospital Center Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center Eastern Shore Hospital Center Thomas B. Finan Center John L. Gildner RICA RICA-Baltimore Potomac Center/SETT Holly Center Deers Head Hospital Center and Western Maryland Hospital Center. The MDH Healthcare System has over 3700 employees and cares for approximately 1900 patients annually with an annual budget of over $500M.

The main purpose for this position is to provide high level administrative project coordination and clerical support to MDH Healthcare System executive office including the Director Deputy Director Chief Financial Officer as well as other members of the MDH Healthcare System leadership team in a high intensity complex work environment. This position requires an individual who is detail oriented organized capable of critical thinking applying good judgment and who has the ability to work proactively and independently on various administrative projects with minimal training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30credit hours from an accredited college or university foroneyear of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degreefrom a college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that includedregular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans policies rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the requiredexperience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates should possess the following:

  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders; to include MDH Staff Legislative staff the general public vendors and Maryland constituents;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as effective listening skills;
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word Excel Powerpoint) and Google platforms;
  • Experience with data analysis and spreadsheet manipulation; and
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment work independently and provide a high level of productivity.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
