Class: Temporary/Seasonal Pay Table/Range: Cust. & Grounds $30/hr.

Job Summary:

Temporary seasonal position for winter snow removal at our various school and district office locations. This includes snow removal cleaning sidewalks. Must be available early mornings and late nights as conditions warrant snow removal. Weekly hours vary dependent on weather. Must be available for emergency weather conditions and be able to work on weekends and holidays as needed. Season typically begins mid-November and ends in March depending on weather. Candidate must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and remain focused and seated for extended periods of time. Hours for these positions vary between depending on weather and needs of the section. Must be able to perform moderate physical activity in lifting carrying and/or operating the tools and equipment.

Essential Functions Duties/Responsibilities:

Most work performed outside with frequent exposure to adverse winter weather conditions

Includes removal of snow from parking lots and sidewalks.

Operate pickup truck with snowplow to remove ice and snow from school district locations

Responds in a timely manner when called to assist in snow plowing

Hand-shovel areas as required (walkways doors etc.)

Follows all safety rules policies and regulations

Work independently with minimal supervision to complete job

Inspects and maintains equipment to assure ready to be used as needed for snow removal

Reports all incidents involving equipment to assigned supervisor(s)

Wear appropriate protective equipment at all times

Comply with all policies and procedures

Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

Operating vehicles

Operating snow equipment

Pick-up Truck Snow Plow Driver

Tractor Snow Plow Driver

Snow Shovel

Ability to work independently.

Ability to work in inclement weather

Familiar with safety regulations

Knowledge of school district coverage area

Experience:

No experience/training provided

Valid drivers license and safe drivers record

Working Conditions:

Extremely flexible working hours including nights weekend and holiday work

Work safely near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis

Work outdoors in various conditions including extreme cold rain dust noise and wet conditions

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly

Strenuous physical effort is generally required to perform duties.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to operate equipment walk stand sit reach with hands and arms balance and climb. Stamina is required to work in adverse weather conditions.
