Job Summary

Job Summary Manager Patient Care Services OB/PEDS

- Reports to Chief Nurse Executive and serves as nurse leader for the OB/PEDS unit.
- Responsible for the quality of care and patient safety in assigned area.
- Demonstrates core competencies in communication relationship-building healthcare environment knowledge leadership professionalism and business skills.
- Participates in policy formulation and decision-making including shared governance with staff.
- Evaluates and promotes quality patient-centered care respecting individual rights and preferences.
- Accepts accountability for services provided in the unit.
- Coordinates nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and integrates services across the care continuum.
- Supervises guides and evaluates staff; oversees staffing and scheduling based on patient needs and staff competencies.
- Provides orientation for new staff and ongoing feedback for professional development.
- Develops implements and monitors the budget for the unit.
- Engages nursing staff in research and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Facilitates open communication and provides an environment for staff input and discussion.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support nursing excellence.

Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in nursing (BSN/BS) required (Associate degree considered with 5 years relevant experience with BSN/BS to be completed in 3 5 years).
- Recent OB and Peds experience required; must be able to transition to bedside/leadership during crisis.
- Active Michigan RN license and BLS certification required.
- Demonstrated management experience required.
- Masters degree in nursing or related field strongly preferred.

Location:
McLaren Northern Michigan a 202-bed Magnet-designated regional hospital in Petoskey MI.
