Job Summary

The School District of Clayton is seeking a receptionist for the Clayton High School for the 2025-2026 school year.The Receptionist greets visitors answers the main telephone lines responds to inquiries provides requested information and/or referral to other parties; administers assigned projects; provides clerical support within the building as requested. The Building Receptionist must be adaptable to change possess exceptional communication skills and utilize problem-solving techniques. The person in this position must be dependable; regular attendance is a requirement.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Receptionist manages front desk duties by welcoming visitors to the building and maintains organization.

REPORTS TO: Principal

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Welcomes all visitors ensuring that each is logged into the Visitor Management System.
  • Answers all calls coming into the main office and helps answer questions and direct inquiries.
  • Writes passes for students as needed.
  • Enters and tracks student attendance throughout the day listening to voicemail system and checking attendance email.
  • Assists in locating students who are missing from class updates attendance records
  • Discusses attendance questions with parents.
  • Manages and adjusts the school bell as needed.
  • Makes daily announcements.
  • Requests students for early release.
  • Processes work permits.
  • Manages and schedules drivers education students.
  • Assists Drivers Education Teacher with administrative responsibilities. Requires 5 Saturday meetings (approximately 2 hours each).
  • Assists with other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Required qualifications to effectively perform job. An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered.

  • Some college is required
  • At least 2 years of administrative assistant/receptionist experience (preferred).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES May be representative but not all-inclusive of those knowledge skills and abilities commonly associated with the job.

  • Requires strong organizational skills.
  • Requires ability to work collaboratively.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires ability to read and interpret correspondence reports and legal documents for administrative purposes.
  • Requires experience with Google Suite.
  • Requires ability to operate standard office and classroom equipment.
  • Requires the ability to provide great customer service to students and families.

  • Required to occasionally move objects weighing up to 10 pounds around the workspace.
  • Requires travel to multiple work sites within the District using reliable personal transportation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Eight hours per day. Ten-month position.

Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification: None.

Experience: 2 years in a similar assignment is prefered.
