Elliott Insurance Group is seeking a skilled Insurance Appraiser to join our team. As an integral part of the claims department the Insurance Appraiser will be responsible for evaluating and assessing the value of property and assets for both personal and commercial insurance claims. This role requires a keen eye for detail strong analytical skills and the ability to provide accurate appraisals that ensure fair compensation for clients while maintaining the integrity of the insurance process.
Key Responsibilities:
Property & Asset Evaluation: Inspect and assess the condition value and replacement cost of damaged or lost property including residential commercial vehicles equipment and more.
Claims Support: Provide expert opinions and appraisal reports to assist in the claims adjudication process. Ensure that assessments are accurate and in compliance with company policies industry standards and applicable laws.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed written reports documenting the findings of each appraisal including photographs estimates and supporting evidence. Ensure that all reports are submitted in a timely manner and meet internal and regulatory standards.
Collaboration with Claims Adjusters: Work closely with claims adjusters to ensure smooth processing of claims addressing any questions or issues related to the appraised value.
Negotiation: Assist in the negotiation of settlements by providing an accurate impartial appraisal that aligns with the terms of the insurance policy and claim guidelines.
Client Communication: Communicate with clients as needed to gather information regarding the loss or damage and explain the appraisal process. Provide professional and courteous service to ensure client satisfaction.
Market Research & Valuation Trends: Stay up to date on the latest industry trends construction materials market values and appraisal methods to ensure the accuracy and relevance of appraisals.
Field Inspections: Conduct in-person or virtual inspections as needed ensuring thorough documentation of all relevant details.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all appraisals comply with company standards industry regulations and legal requirements. Maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of work.
Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to process improvements within the appraisal and claims processes helping to streamline workflows and enhance the customer experience.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance appraisal or a related field such as property inspection auto appraisal or construction.
Licensing/Certifications:
Valid insurance appraiser certification or licensure as required by the state(s) of Washington and Oregon or the ability to obtain certification within the first 90 days.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of property and casualty insurance policies and appraisal techniques.
Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess value damage and replacement costs accurately.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain clear and concise records.
Strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively interact with clients claims adjusters and management.
Proficient with appraisal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in Insurance Business or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct field inspections including visiting properties and potentially inspecting damaged areas.
Experience in specific types of property appraisals (e.g. commercial buildings autos machinery etc.).
Industry Relationships: Established network with repair shops contractors and other professionals who can assist in the appraisal process.
Technology Savvy: Proficient with modern appraisal tools and software such as Xactimate Symbility or similar platforms.
