Senior Software Engineer

With 36 facilities worldwide Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing (BPT) is the largest network of bio/pharmaceutical GMP product testing laboratories providing comprehensive laboratory services for the worlds largest pharmaceutical biopharmaceutical and medical device companies.
BPT is enabled by global engineering teams working on next-generation applications and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). As a Senior Software Engineer with specialized knowledge in Azure Cosmos DB and MongoDB you will be a crucial part of our delivery team ensuring the product features are completely automated and reducing the idea to live time to Business. This is a database-focused engineering role ideal for someone who excels at designing managing and optimizing document-based distributed databases in large-scale cloud-native a technology leader BPT wants to give you the opportunity not just to accept new challenges and opportunities but to impress with your ingenuity focus attention to detail and collaboration with a global team of professionals.
This role reports to a Manager.
Required Experience and Skills
Experience:
5 - 8 years of experience in database engineering architecture or backend data systems.
Minimum 3 years of deep hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB and MongoDB in production environments.
Proven experience with NoSQL data modeling scaling distributed databases and partitioning strategies.
Specific skills required
Document Databases:
Azure Cosmos DB (Core SQL API or Mongo API):
Strong understanding of partition key design request units (RU/s) indexing consistency models TTL and multi-region replication
Experience with Change Feed throughput provisioning autoscale vs manual throughput
MongoDB:
Expertise in sharding replica sets indexing schema optimization and aggregation framework
Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas and advanced configuration/tuning
Performance & Optimization:
Ability to perform deep query analysis index tuning and performance diagnostics
Experience designing for high-concurrency and low-latency requirements
Monitoring alerting and performance dashboards using tools like Azure Monitor MongoDB Ops Manager
Desirable Experience
Experience with data migration backup/restore strategies and disaster recovery planning
Exposure to multi-region globally distributed data architectures
Familiarity with event-driven and microservices environments
Designing data access layers for multi-tenant SaaS applications
Understanding of security encryption and compliance requirements (e.g. GDPR HIPAA) in data management
Additional Skills (Preferred)
SQL knowledge ability to work with traditional RDBMS (SQL Server PostgreSQL MySQL) and understand relational vs document modeling trade-offs
Familiarity with backend application stacks (e.g. .NET Java ) for integration purposes
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with Terraform Bicep or ARM templates
Scripting experience in Python PowerShell or Bash for automation
Certifications:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Cosmos DB Developer Associate
MongoDB Certified DBA or Developer
Experience with data lakes analytical processing or data warehousing is a plus

Required Qualifications:
- MCA or Bachelors in Engineering Computer Science or equivalent.
PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL CRITERIA: Eurofins has a strong focus on Performance Management system. This includes quarterly calibrations half-yearly reviews and annual reviews. The KPIs shall be set and may vary slightly between projects. These will be clearly communicated documented during the first 30 days of your joining.
